I am rather surprised to find young people (especially ones younger than me) with such conservative and insightful views.The internet is a very liberal place, where nothing is sacred and all that is said and done can be taken either too lightly or too seriously.
To be conservative on the internet is sometimes a dangerous thing.
You may have a whole plethora of friends online, but as soon as an opinion forms on your conservative e-lips they (generally) turn against you and suddenly you're the bad guy for being different and saying your mind.
Have you noticed that there are so many young liberals on the net who are really just uninformed and arrogant (I can name a few people I know in real life...) they run their mouths and down all your beliefs but get offended and pissy whenever you call their bluff and say facts to their fiction?
I don't know...it seems a lot of these kids who claim to know politics don't know anything.
I AM NOT SAYING THAT ALL YOUNG LIBERALS ARE STUPID
Please don't misjudge me, I am saying that there are lot of young people who don't even know what they are standing up for. Fighting a moral/political battle without any cause, other than it's the "in" thing to do. It's sad and it is sickening.
There are some very intelligent young liberals who are courteous and well informed and they can back their facts without having to google their answers. Reading all these journals and comments to them have brought both groups to my attention and the handful of knowledgeable young liberals has gave me hope for the future.
I have gotten off-topic here...
I feel like there is a real opportunity for fellowship and community between young conservatives here on DA. Let's face it guys, DA is a very liberal place...and to find a group of conservatives, YOUNG ones at that, is-to me- finding an oasis in a desert. I feel like I finally have found a good outlet to express my personal beliefs and views without having to face some sort of persecution.
I have felt alone and outcasted by a majority of my peers from other communities for my beliefs and my stand on issues. It's amazing what one subject can do to a friendship. As I said before, I have a friend who I can't reason with on this subject and so I have to avoid it all together. I don't want to lose friends over my views, but I have.
This is why I am so amazed at this strange little cluster that has formed here. Even some of the liberal kids are friendly towards the conservative ones. That is real maturity, and intelligence. To be able to say kind words to someone after a small debate is amazing to me.
I love you guys.
I just wish that more people would stop thinking with that swarm mentality and start thinking on their own.
I don't even know if this journal makes any sense, but if you can make sense of it and would like to comment, please do so. I don't care what you have to say. I will take what you have to say to heart and give you honest answers.
If you can't follow me...then leave a comment anyways! I'll try to explain the point I was getting at here...

Yes I have found that young people are willing to fricely fight anyone on their values, but they do not understand and have enough facts to really support what they fighting for. It is a romantic type of blind loyalty. It sounds right, it looks courageous, and they are commended for being out-spoken. Yet they don't know their facts and history, nor have they consider possibilities beyond what they have seen.
Honestly this is true for most young people, liberals AND conservatives. It's a fact of life, because experience plays a part. The problem lies that most young people are liberals, and they will fiercely believe together so no harm done. The attack comes if you're a minority with your views.
I don't think people fight for something because it's the popular thing to do. But they do honestly, strongly believe it is right and good. The problem is, they haven't explored and questioned enough before they speak.
Personally, I find can't congratulate someone who is brave enough to stand up for what they believe. Even if I agree, even if it's more courage than I have. Because if they don't know the facts, the history, the other side of the argument, then they just make everyone who stands for that view, look foolish.
I really, really believe in studying and knowledge. All the wisdom and courage in the world is worthless without knowledge.
Anyways, "on topic" with your point. I do find DA rather liberal, and I don't really express my views on here. Partly because it's an ART site and partly because I think anyone would agree (aka eat my brains out) nor listen *shrugs*
It would be very interesting if their was a politically conservative club on DA that would post like political news and insight that the members found. That would take some work though!
I posted that yesterday, because since this site is so liberal and whatnot... I haven't been comfortable with speaking my mind on here for 4 years.
XD; Honestly, I'm still not very comfortable with it because a ton of people got extremely angry with me.
But there also was a lot that, though with different thoughts, welcomed my beliefs and encouraged them... which I thought was amazing. I value those people a lot more now, and I wish a lot more would be that way.
One of the most immature things to me, is getting all riled up at someone for just merely expressing their beliefs, not shoving them down others throats or anything, but just saying what they think... and sadly a lot of that happened yesterday.
I guess they don't understand how I've felt being on here a lot and seeing so many people openly hate on people with opinions like mine. (when what they're wanting is for people to accept others, it makes no sense. O_o; )
but anyways... this journal makes me love you even more and I'm so happy you wrote it.

But when someones point is based off of nothing, has no substance to it, I will say something about it, and bring in the factual edvidence of their belief. To me, I am helping them understand what they're rooting for, so in the future they can make informed comments or descions. But many found that everything I said-even in support of their point- is wrong and I'm wrong and I'm a (insert derogatory adjective here)...
So I have opted for so long just to NOT express myself on certain matters

Every thing is political. School, work, even this very community.
It's something that cannot be avoided. Someone will express their views and someone else will be there to shoot it down.
Some people just don't care enough about anything to make proper comments, and some are over zealous about their side of the story and they chew your head off...

Bipartisanship is tearing our country apart at its inflexible self made seams. The facts about this are lost and the war between these ignorant zealots is fueled by hate and lies spread to further widen the rift. I am a true non-partisan, I ally with no organized party because they are the clicks of desecration.
I shoot for what I believe is going to save our country not help it divide it self. The real situation is simply this: misinformation. It is easier to feed the public BS and have it fly off the handle on hearsay and attack that which opposes the propaganda of the party than think for ones self. What they should do is smell the BS and seek the real truth and do what is right for the whole of human kind. Freedom of speech is great till you use that against those who practice self denial. Then watch how fast they throw away your rights and try to shut you up.
Be courageous, be diligent and make every hypocrite understand what it means to be a true Individual. If you are Conservative, be an unbiased, informed conservative. If you are Liberal be an unbiased, informed Liberal. Not a mindless party zombie spewing propaganda that leads to pointing the numb finger of accusation, closing everyones eyes to the of vision of unity, ears to actual fact and the mind to unbiased reason. I fear the lie has killed all that is left of the balance of unity. Hate mixed with greed and pompous self righteousness has replaced the very compassion that our constitution of fairness so depends upon for vital cooperation in the heart of our nation. The fumes of decay are in every newspaper, TV show, radio broadcast, internet blog, advertisement, and major syndication published today. The people feed on it like a rodent to cheese.
We define who we are. Don't be fooled by the popular thing to do. The lemmings are running... do you follow blindly... or stand your ground?

I have Conservative beliefs, but that does not mean that I'll strictly vote Republican, if there was a Democrat that I felt would be best for the country, I'd go with that.
In my opinion there's no right party. XD;
So yeah, I completely agree, a lot of people (teens for the most part) say they hate the media, but in all truthfulness they pay attention to it and they follow it. It's really shameful that people can be swayed so easily by something they claim to hate.

In my opinion, -none of the above- should appear as a selection choice on the next ballot. I won't be forced to choose between two unworthy candidates bent on pushing party propaganda ever again.
